Needs Assessment (Briefing)
All of our teaching takes the participant’s level, needs and wishes as the starting point, so the needs assessment is the pivotal point for all of our courses. The needs assessment consists of an interview and a short written test, and takes around 30 minutes. During the needs assessment, the following points will be ascertained:
· What the linguistic level is (speaking, writing, comprehension and grammar).
· What the language will be used for (with whom, which media, what purpose, etc?)
· What the participant’s wishes and goals for the language course are
· Practical matters (start date, materials, etc.)
With this as the point of departure, an individual course plan is prepared. The aim is that the participant acquires a balanced language in terms of accuracy, fluency and variety.
The courses can be further tailored to the participant’s industry-specific needs. For example, if an engineer needs to learn special technical terms and phrases, this will be integrated into the course.
